I considered hooking up the arrow keys, but that didn't give the feel that I was going for. I wanted people to realize how analogue the movement of a real car is.

Wow, it works pretty well. Now you just need to make the speed and steering react to arrow-key presses. :D

YOU ROCK! Do you have any 'in work' examples of postacard that would load a local background jpg, or one defined by xml instead of flicker ? This code is fantastic but a little hard to minimize. I just need the text editor with back ground and other image loading and drag positioning.
I am willing to Donate.

Old and Slow
Dennis

Thanks

This is true. There are some cases where the main website theme is too heavy for a mobile device which is why I have this one. It's nice to have the option either way.

Lol, random compass. XD
I think I prefer just viewing normal sites on mobile devices. Just have to scroll around a bit more is all. No need to mess with the site layout and looks..

@Dan
Sorry. I didn't realize that View Source wouldn't work with my current system of embedding. I have included a link to the application source in the text of the post however, so you can still get it that way :)

This is pretty intriguing as I am doing some similar work (though no results worthy of sharing, at least not yet). I would like to point out one thing though- 'view source' doesn't work...

@David R
In the above example all tiles are based on the grass texture. It would be possible to extend the engine to handle multiple base textures, but I would need to add more assets to handle each new transition.

That's a pretty neat little demo. Generating the borders at runtime definitely makes level creation much simpler. One issue I see that might complicate it further...what if you want 'rock' directly into 'water', without any 'grass' inbetween? Or sand->rock, or rock->dirt etc etc. This would complicate the logic a bit.
